Mr. Frank J. Wojnas, 96, passed away with his loving wife and family by his side on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Lutheran Home in Clinton.

Frank was born in Utica on October 5, 1920, a son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Kurec) Wojnas. He was educated in local schools, attended St. Stanislaus Catholic School, and later served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. In 1942, Frank joined the US Army and served honorably in the European Theater during WWII. He was very proud of his service to our country and was a faithful member of the VFW Skiba Post and Utica Post 229.

On March 5, 1961, Frank was joined in marriage to the former Marie Villelo and they shared over fifty-six loving years together. Mr. Wojnas was an employee of Utica Cutlery for over forty years.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Carol Ann and Peter Sebergandio, Lancaster, PA, Shelly and Thomas McCarthy, Audubon, PA, and Polly and Chris Gossin, Orange Park, FL; beloved grandchildren, Danielle (Ron) Kummerer, Michael Sebergandio (Janelle), Brianna Schock, Christina Grimmett (Eric), Ryan McCarthy, Patrick McCarthy, Christian McCarthy, and Francesca Gossin; eight great grandchildren, Carli, Madisyn, RJ, Bella, Mackenzie, Salvatore, Dominic, and Rilyn; one brother, Edward Wojnas; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Ann Trozzi, and Grace and Tom DeCrescenzo; and also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Victoria Borysewski and one brother, Eugene Wojnas.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday April 12th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church on Coventry Ave in Utica. The family will greet visitors following mass. Entombment with Military Honors will be in Calvary Mausoleum.

Marie would like to thank her children, her “Utica family”, and the caregivers at the Lutheran Home and Hospice and Palliative Care, for the care and compassion shown to Frank and herself during his illness.

In lieu of flowers, please consider St. Jude Children’s Research or your own favorite charity.
