Mr. Michael A. Cucchiara, 60, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 23, 2017.

Michael was born in Utica on November 22, 1956, a son of the late Angelo and Vivian (Carrock) Cucchiara. He was educated in local school and was a 1974 graduate of T.R. Proctor High School and later attended HCCC receiving an Associates Degree. He was employed for over twenty years at Mohawk Valley Water Authority. Michael enjoyed living in Sylvan Beach and had a passion for cooking and was an active member of the Sons of The American Legion Post 1153 of Sylvan Beach.

He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth and Michael Smith of Cicero and Teresa Cucchiara and Benjamin Stacy of Floyd, and their mother Roseanne Furmanski; a step son, Charles Alexander Moore of Oriskany and his mother Deborah Booton McCoy, his grandson Aidan Smith; his brother Joseph Cucchaira of Utica; also his girlfriend Linda Clarkson; his uncle Daniel Zegibe and many cousins. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 6 pm at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St. at Mohawk St. Utica. There will be a prayer service at the end of visitation. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

RIP Mike it was so nice to have reconnected with you on FB after all these years. I truly enjoyed talking about the old Proctor days and seeing all your political posts! You will be truely missed. My deepest condolences to the family and may God give you the strength to get through this difficult time.

We always enjoyed our talks with Mikey in Sylvan Beach. We had some very good laughs together and enjoyed listening to music together. We will miss his smile and gentile soul. May your memories bring you comfort during this difficult time. May you Rest in Peace our friend.

I will remember mike always and honor his memory. Mike was the only person to get thru to me when i was in a dark place in my life he was one of the brightest men i had the privilege to get to know he treated me as a son and my kids as his grandchildren. I will forever remember our time hanging out you taught me so much and yet i feel like there was still so much to learn from you. To mikes family i am truly sorry for your loss he was a loyal friend and an even greater person... UNTILL WE MEET AGAIN R.I.P MY FRIEND!!!!
