Mrs. Gloria Trietiak, 91, a lifelong Utica resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at The Leo Center of the St. Anne’s Home in Rochester.

Gloria was born in Utica on April 17, 1927, a daughter of the late Bernard and Angeline (Arcuri) Tomaino. She was educated in local schools and a graduate of TR Proctor High School. On August 14, 1948, Gloria was joined in marriage to Paul Trietiak. Paul and Gloria shared twenty-five loving years together until Paul passed away at a young age on September 13, 1973. Gloria was employed for over twenty seven-years with Verizon, and retired on April 24, 1987. She was a longtime member of the Telephone Co. Pioneers.

Always very active, Gloria loved to travel with her sisters to the casinos, especially, Atlantic City, whenever possible. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the PGA tour and was a die-hard NY Yankees and NY Giants fan.

A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Gail Trietiak, of West Palm Beach, FL; her daughter, Cyndi Petote, of Rochester; her sister, Margaret DeSantis; grandchildren, Michael and Amy Trietiak, David and Leah Trietiak, Brian and Shelly Trietiak, Craig and Theresa Trietiak, Jennifer Petote, and Matthew and Jeanine Petote; four great grandchildren, Allie, Drew, Eva and Evan; and also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Josephine Tomaino; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose and Al Longo, Evelyn and Jack Rhoades, Marion and John Montero, and Francis “Red” DeSantis; a nephew, Francis DeSantis Jr.; and a special niece, Amelia Hanson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 28th at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/ Blessed Sacrament Parish. There are no calling hours. Private interment will be beside her husband at Calvary Cemetery.
