Penny Marie (Lasher) Austin, 46, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital of MVHS.

Penny was born in New Hartford, on September 17, 1972, a daughter of Jack and Noreen (Bradley) Austin. She was raised and educated in Remsen and was a graduate of Remsen Central School. Following high school, she attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing and received her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She most recently worked as a Home Health Aide at RCIL. At one time Penny was married to Robert Lasher II and from that union she had her three children.

Penny was a fun loving very social person who always enjoyed having a good time; she especially loved her trips to the casino.

She is survived by her son, Jared Lasher and his fiancé Brittany Youker; daughter, Tiffany Lasher; son, Jacob Lasher; and stepson, Robert Lasher III; her mother, Noreen Gwara; her grandchildren, Elliot, Samuel and Hannah Lasher, Eziekiel and Nathaniel Lasher and Robert Lasher IV; her sister, Mary Exline; two brothers, Donald and Bob Austin; and also many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Jack; and a special aunt and uncle, who raised her, Doug and Inez Ebensberger.

Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Penny’s life on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., at Mohawk St., Utica.

My heart is numb right now, to think I will never hear her voice again, never look and see a message from my friend, she was a sole sister indeed, my sister love. Rest easy my friend I will always always love you my sweet, condolences to her family.
