Judith Jean "Judy" White, 72, passed away peacefully, with loved ones by her side, after a brave battle with cancer, on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at The Siegenthaler Center of Hospice and Palliative Care.

Judy was born in Utica on March 12, 1947, the daughter of the late James G. Sr. and Regina (Dwyer) Stasaitis. She was educated in local schools and in 1964 graduated from Utica Free Academy. Following high school, she attended the Utica School of Beauty, where she received her beauticians license. Judy worked at the Ace Beauty Shop in Clinton for many years.

On September 20, 1969, at St. George's Roman Catholic Church, she was joined in marriage to John C. White. John and Judy shared a loving marriage and had just celebrated their fiftieth anniversary.

Judy was a stay at home mom and truly enjoyed her years raising her family. In 1984, along with her friend and partner Darlene, Judy opened the Quilt Loft on Genesee Street in Utica, which later relocated to the Charlestown Mall until its closing. A very talented quilter, Judy was well known in the quilting community for over thirty-years. She was past president of the Mohawk Valley Quilt Club and was instrumental in the organization and execution of many quilt shows. She was the recipient of many awards for her skill and expertise in quilting. Her family and friends will always treasure the quilts she created for them.

An avid volunteer of the Utica Boilermaker Road Race, since its inception, Judy was instrumental in creating the first official water station. She was also active in the Great American Heart Run and Walk.

Judy was an integral part of her brother and sister-in-law, Jan and Jim's, Cruise in for Heart Car Show. She always created a beautiful quilt to raffle off to benefit the event.

Although she had many activities and interests, above all else, was her family. She loved to bake, was an avid gardener, and her home was always the center of family gatherings and celebrations. She was the ultimate hostess, and leaves behind many treasured memories of happy times.

She is survived by her beloved husband, John; Judy was blessed with three children, daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Michael DiBrango and Tara White and her fiance', Chad Tice; and son, James White; grandchildren, Michael Jr. and John "Jack" DiBrango, Declan Tice, Savannah Tice and James "Jimmy" White; her sister and brother-in-law, Jamie and Ed Townsend, and brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Jan Stasaitis; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Linda White; and also many nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends the "Two Amigos" Joy and Maria.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica.

Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., Utica.

The family would like to offer their heartfelt gratitude to the staffs of St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Upstate Medical Center and the caregivers at the Siegenthaler Center of Hospice and Palliative Care, for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
