Mr. John B. Attili, 70, passed away with his loving family by his side on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare.

John was born in Utica on February 9, 1947, a son of Bernardino and Uliana (Alteri) Attili. He was educated in local schools and a graduate of TR Proctor High School, Class of 1965. John excelled in football, played center, and received the Central Oneida League good sportsmanship award in 1965. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War era. On May 27, 1973, John was joined in marriage to the former Donna Nicoletta. They shared forty-four loving years together, and raised their family here in Utica. John was employed as senior plant operator at the Oneida County Water Pollution Plant, and retired in 2002.

John will always be remembered as a loving person who would give you the shirt off his back. He possessed a great sense of humor and could always make you laugh. He was always there for his friends and family, with guidance and good advice, and he will be forever missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna; his parents, Bernardino and Uliana; daughter and son-in-law, Kristen (Attili) and Kenneth Lott; son, John E. Attili; grandchildren, Elyzabeth Lott and Austyn Lott; great granddaughter, Jayden Elyzabeth; brother and sister-in-law, Bernard III and Elvira Attili; and sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Theodore Zammiello; he also leaves many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Giovanni A. and Laurina (Cecilia) Alteri, and Bernardino and Adelina (Di Georgio) Attili; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Antoinette (Era) Nicoletta; and brother-in-law, Mark Nicoletta.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery. Per Johns wishes there will be no calling hours, but the family will receive visitors following mass.

The family would like to offer their heartfelt gratitude, to Dr. Sikder and his staff, as well as, the staff at PCU and ICU at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare, especially his nurse Alex, for all the loving care and compassion shown to John during his illness.

Donna, and the entire Atilli family. My sincerest and deepest condolences to you all, and although we were never immediate family, I recall many times whenever my mom, and my family would visit my Aunt, and uncle, on those many Sundays, and john, and Jerry, and Lena, and all the family would gather to just converse, and laugh, and always be eating, and john, would always make everyone feel so comfortable, a real honest, and sincere guy, who had real warmth, and generosity. God Bless.
