Edward M. LaManque

Mr. Edward M. LaManque, 89, of the Mt. Carmel Apartments, passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at The Pines of Utica.

Ed was born in New York Mills, NY, on August 19, 1928, a son of the late Ernest and Margaret (Doyle) LaManque. He was raised in Utica and educated in local schools. He served our country in the US Army, as a Corporal, during the Korean War. Ed was a machinist and employed at Divine Bros. for over thirty-three years, retiring in 1992.

He had many friends at the Mt. Carmel Apartments and enjoyed his time spent with them, especially his “scrabble buddies”; his fellow OTB enthusiasts; and many others.

His hobbies were bowling and golf, but, he will be remembered for his love and dedication to family, especially his three grandsons, all of whom he left with many fond memories.

A humble and loving father and grandfather, he is survived by his beloved daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Joseph Schnitt, of Yorkville; three grandchildren, Joseph Schnitt, of Woodbridge, VA, Jason Schnitt, of Utica, and Jamin Schnitt, of Yorkville; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, James and Ernest LaManque.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., Utica. Private interment will be in the Veterans section at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the nurses and staff that provided his comfort care at the Pines; as well as his physicians, Dr. Razia and especially Dr. Hunt, at Slocum Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, please consider in Ed’s memory, Care Net Pregnancy Center of CNY or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Deborah and Joe, I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad, and father-in-law. My prayers are with your family, for I, know too well, the pain of losing a parent. Your Dad suffered a great deal, and now he will be with the Lord and His Blessed Mother. With my prayers and love Fiora

Debbie and Joe, We are so so sorry for your loss. He was such a fun uncle! Ron loved to visit with him when we would come back to the beach and have the family cookout. Prayers for you and your family, during this difficult time. Lots of love!
