Matt Funeral Service, Inc. has always been a family owned business operating solely in Utica.

Anthony F. "Tony" Matt has continued the quality services and traditions started by his grandfather Anthony F. Matt and his father John L. Matt, Sr.

A longtime member of the National Funeral Directors Association, The Matt Funeral Home is also a member of the New York State Funeral Directors Association, as well as the Tri-County Funeral Directors Association.

Tony Matt has been operating the business since he was licensed in 1974, his dad retired shortly after in 1975. He looks forward to 2014, when the funeral home will celebrate it's centennial year and he will celebrate his fortieth year of operating the business.

Along with his sister Maria (Matt) Zegarelli, the Matt Funeral Home was one of the first funeral homes in the area to offer a bereavement support group and this group meets once a month and is facilitated by Lisa Talerico Edic. It is open to all that have suffered the loss of a loved one.

Mr. Matt has served as president of the Board of Directors of Crown Hill Memorial Park for over twenty years. He is also a member of several area service clubs as well as the Knights of Columbus and the Sons of Italy. Anthony has been married for over twenty seven years to Kimberly L. (Roy) Matt who also works in the family business and is very active with the Upstate Cerebral Palsy. The couple has two sons Anthony F. Matt III and Dominic A. Matt who are both currently attending Mohawk Valley Community College.

"We take great pride in serving our community in a "Mom and Pop" tradition which began with my grandparents, Anthony and Lena Matt and later my parents John and Jean Matt. This tradition truly continues with the Matt Funeral Home of Utica."
