Karen Ann Kobos, 48, of Rome, NY, passed away, January 23, 2026, following a brief illness.
Karen was born to Paul A. Kobos and Georgiana E. (Yaghy) Kobos, in Utica, NY, August 15, 1977, and was raised in Barneveld, NY. She graduated from Holland Patent High School and attended Utica College. Karen previously worked at Wal-Mart, MetLife, and Turning Stone Casino.
Her greatest joy and most cherished relationship was with her daughter, Kayla. Kayla was the center of her world, the person she loved with a depth and devotion that shaped every part of her life.
Karen’s pride in her daughter was immeasurable.
A fashionista at heart, Karen enjoyed shopping and accessorizing, even the most ordinary appointment became an occasion for the perfect outfit. An avid cat lover, she often cared for stray cats and was never without a feline companion, most recently Annabelle.
She is survived by her daughter, Kayla Recor; mother, Georgiana E. Kobos; father, Paul A. Kobos; siblings, Kimberly A. (Shawn) Molloy, and Paul J. Kobos.
Karen leaves behind unforgettable memories. Her absence will be profound, but the impact she made on those who loved her will endure. She will be forever missed and forever loved.
Karen’s family have honored her privately and she will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, in Utica.
